on the record

terms of use.

last updated: june 2026.

what this is.

the archive is an editorial publication. dossier verdicts are editorial summaries of sourced facts — not legal findings, criminal verdicts, or regulatory determinations. nothing on this site should be read as legal, financial, medical, or professional advice.

sourcing standards.

every claim must be tied to a named, public source. anonymous tips are accepted but never published as fact without independent corroboration. "alleged" stays "alleged" until proven. our full editorial standards are published at /standards and our method at /methodology.

right of reply.

anyone written about on the archive has a permanent, unconditional right of reply. replies are published alongside the entry they answer, in full, without editing. file one at /corrections.

corrections, retractions, and takedown.

we correct openly. when an entry changes meaningfully, the change is logged publicly at /corrections-log. we retract rather than remove. takedown requests on legal grounds (defamation, privacy, copyright) are reviewed by a human within seven days.

contributor agreement.

contributors warrant that what they file is their own work or properly attributed, that cited facts are accurate to the best of their knowledge, and that they have no undisclosed conflict of interest with the subject. filing an entry grants the archive a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to publish, edit for clarity, and re-host it. contributors retain copyright in their own words.

acceptable use.

do not file entries you know to be false, use the archive to harass private individuals, scrape the site at industrial scale, or attempt to break our moderation. accounts are revoked on a single confirmed bad-faith filing.

no warranties; liability.

the archive is provided "as is". we make no warranty that any entry is complete or up to date at the moment you read it. to the maximum extent permitted by law, the archive's operators are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on a dossier.

governing law.

these terms are governed by the laws of england and wales. disputes that cannot be resolved in writing will be heard in the courts of london.

contact.

for legal notices and takedown requests: legal@memorymadepermanent.org.

these terms will be finalised by counsel before the archive opens to the public.
